Iconic Jeep Routes Around Ouray

The Alpine Loop is the crown jewel — a 65-mile circuit crossing Engineer and Cinnamon Passes, passing through the ghost towns of Animas Forks and Capitol City at over 12,000 feet. Most of the route is accessible to stock 4x4 vehicles with high clearance.

Imogene Pass to Telluride is a technical favorite, cresting at 13,114 feet before descending into one of Colorado's most scenic ski towns. Black Bear Pass is for experienced off-roaders only — steep, one-way, and exposed at the top.

Guided Jeep Tours in Ouray

Several outfitters in Ouray offer guided half-day and full-day jeep tours with knowledgeable local guides who know the history, geology, and hidden viewpoints. Guided tours are great if you don't have your own 4x4 or want someone else to handle the driving.

Tours often combine jeeping with ghost town stops, waterfall visits, and high-alpine picnics. Book in advance during peak summer weekends as tours fill up fast.
