Singletrack and Trail Riding Near Ouray
The Ouray Perimeter Trail is the local warm-up ride — a flowing loop around the canyon rim that works as both a run and a bike trail. The trail has some technical rock sections and offers continuous panoramic views.
Ridgway, 10 miles north, is developing an expanding network of purpose-built singletrack in the Cimarron hills. The Dallas Trail system is fast, flowy, and appropriate for intermediate riders.
Backcountry Road Biking
The county roads to Yankee Boy Basin and Bachelor Syracuse Mine make excellent mountain bike roads — loose gravel, steady climbs, and spectacular scenery with minimal vehicle traffic except in peak summer weekends.
Multi-day bike-packing routes through the San Juans using the San Juan Skyway corridor are possible for experienced riders with loaded bikes and camping gear.
Bikes, Brews, and Base Camp
The Lumberyard Condos has space to store bikes securely, and the hot springs are the ideal post-ride recovery stop. Ouray's several restaurants and the Ouray Brewery are walkable from your condo.
