The Crown Jewel of Ouray's Victorian District
The Beaumont Hotel anchors the corner of Main Street and 5th Avenue and is the most photographed building in Ouray. Built in 1887 at the height of the silver boom, it hosted presidents, mining magnates, and frontier celebrities in its early decades.
The hotel underwent a meticulous restoration in the early 2000s, bringing the lobby, bar, and dining areas back to their Victorian Italianate character. Original tin ceilings, mahogany woodwork, and period furnishings have been preserved or faithfully reproduced.
The Bar and Dining Experience
The Beaumont's bar is open to the public during the season and is one of the best spots in town for a post-hike cocktail or craft beer. The back bar dates to the original construction and is arguably the most beautiful piece of furniture in Ouray.
The hotel restaurant serves dinner seasonally — reservations are recommended in July and August. The menu leans toward hearty mountain cuisine with Colorado sourcing. Even if you're not staying here, a drink at the bar is almost obligatory.
Staying at The Lumberyard Condos
The Lumberyard Condos are a three-minute walk from the Beaumont Hotel — close enough to walk back from a nightcap without worrying about driving on mountain roads after dark. The condos offer full kitchen facilities, making it easy to cook some nights and dine out others.
