Ouray's holiday lighting is a town-wide effort that transforms Main Street and the surrounding canyon walls from Thanksgiving through New Year's. The combination of Victorian architecture, mountain backdrop, and snow makes the display feel almost theatrical — more European Christmas market than small-town Colorado.
The lighting tradition draws visitors specifically for winter weekends, and the town pairs the lights with pop-up events, holiday markets on Main Street, and extended hours at the Hot Springs Pool. Foot traffic on Main Street in December rivals peak summer.
