What Ridgway Offers
Ridgway is a genuinely pleasant small town — around 1,000 people, a well-regarded arts scene (True Grit was filmed nearby), Ridgway State Park with a reservoir for paddling and fishing, and a relaxed Western character. Lodging is cheaper than Ouray and more available in peak season. The Chipeta Solar Springs Resort is Ridgway's upscale option. Several excellent restaurants including Kate's Place round out a town that punches above its weight.
The Ridgway area is also where you find the best views of the Sneffels Range — the Mt. Sneffels massif seen from the Dallas Divide is one of Colorado's most photographed mountain panoramas.
