Total drive time is about 5.5 hours with good conditions — perfect for a Thursday evening departure or an early Friday morning start.
The Ouray Experience
Ouray is a Victorian mining town of 1,000 people at 7,760 ft elevation, surrounded entirely by peaks above 13,000 ft. The town's natural hot springs pool, ice climbing park, and access to the San Juan Skyway make it a bucket-list Colorado destination.
It's walkable, charming, and genuinely unspoiled — a rarity in Colorado's mountain corridor. Dog owners especially love it because the whole town embraces dogs.

The Lumberyard Condos are five fully equipped, dog-friendly units at 55 4th Avenue — rated 9.9/10 on VRBO and 4.94 stars on Airbnb. They sleep up to 10 guests and are steps from the hot springs and downtown dining.
