Days 1–2: Ouray's Core Trails and Soaks

Spend the first two days on foot: Box Canyon Falls, the Perimeter Trail, Bear Creek National Recreation Trail, and Lower Cascade Falls. These trails range from easy strolls to strenuous half-day hikes.

Each evening, decompress at the Ouray Hot Springs Pool. With 5 days, you can soak at your own pace rather than rushing.

Days 3–4: 4WD Passes and Ghost Towns

Day 3: Drive the Alpine Loop — Engineer Pass, Cinnamon Pass, and Animas Forks ghost town form a full-day high-altitude circuit. Day 4: Head north to Silverton via the Million Dollar Highway and explore the historic downtown.

From Silverton, take a short detour to Howardsville and Eureka ghost towns. These well-preserved mining remnants are among the most atmospheric in Colorado.

Day 5: Telluride Day Trip

The drive from Ouray to Telluride via Dallas Divide is one of Colorado's most scenic mountain roads. Spend the day exploring Telluride's downtown, the free gondola to Mountain Village, and Bridal Veil Falls.
