The Ouray Ice Park — World-Class Winter Adventure
Every January and February, Ouray transforms into a global ice climbing destination. The Ouray Ice Park is the world's first artificially irrigated ice climbing park — over 200 climbs spanning 2,000 feet of canyon wall. Thousands of climbers from around the world visit each winter.
The Ouray Ice Festival in late January brings world-champion climbers, guided clinics, and a festival atmosphere to Main Street. Even if you've never touched ice tools, intro clinics make it accessible.
Beyond Ice Climbing
Winter snowshoeing on the Perimeter Trail offers solitude and snowy canyon views. Cross-country skiing is available on groomed trails nearby. The Million Dollar Highway stays open through winter, making Silverton day trips possible even in January.
The Ouray Hot Springs Pool is magical in winter — steam rising from the outdoor pool as snow dusts the canyon rim above you. It's open daily, including holidays.
Winter Stay at The Lumberyard
The Lumberyard Condos is fully heated and equipped for winter stays — cozy after-ice-climbing evenings with a full kitchen to cook warm meals. Dogs are welcome, which matters when you're traveling with a trail pup in the off-season.
Winter rates are often lower than summer. Book your January or February stay directly at ouraycondos.com.
