Dog-Friendly Trails Near Ouray

Most trails in and around Ouray are open to leashed dogs. The Ouray Perimeter Trail is the most popular — 5 miles of well-maintained trail circling the canyon with incredible views. Dogs must be leashed, and shade is limited in summer.

Bear Creek Trail and Cascade Falls Trail are also dog-friendly. The trail to Yankee Boy Basin is accessible by 4WD and dogs can hike the upper meadows with owners. Bring enough water for your dog — streams are present but not reliable at all times.

Dog-Friendly Dining and Town

Ouray's Main Street is walkable and generally dog-friendly outdoors. Several restaurants have patio seating that welcomes leashed dogs. The town itself is small enough that you'll see plenty of other dogs on daily walks.

The Ouray Hot Springs Pool does not permit dogs, so plan a dog-sitter or separate visit if you want to soak. Ice cream shops on Main Street often have water bowls out for visiting dogs.

Dog-Friendly Stays at The Lumberyard

The Lumberyard Condos explicitly welcomes dogs — no breed restrictions, no awkward workarounds. Your dog is a genuine part of the stay. The location at 55 4th Avenue is a short walk to multiple trailheads and the main park.
