The Lumberyard: A 130-Year-Old Building Completely Reimagined
The building at 55 4th Avenue was originally the Rice Lumber Company yard, established in 1892 during Ouray's silver mining boom. For over a century it supplied timber to the mines, homes, and businesses of the San Juan Mountains. Today it's been completely renovated into five individually designed vacation condos — but the bones of the building, and its place in Ouray's history, are fully intact.
Staying here puts you in the heart of Ouray on the bank of the Uncompahgre River, two blocks from the Ouray Ice Park, and a short walk from Main Street. It's the most centrally located vacation rental property in Ouray.
The Five Condos
The Hot Springs Suite — The top-floor flagship. 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 10. Private deck with river views below and beautiful mountain views as the backdrop. Gas fireplace. The most premium unit in the building.
The Amphitheater — Second floor, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, sleeps 5. Named for the natural rock formation visible from its private deck. Faces the canyon walls where Ouray's July 4th fireworks are launched — arguably the best fireworks view in town.
The Crawler — Ground floor, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6. Named for one of Ouray's most famous 4WD trails. Direct courtyard access, adventure-themed décor.
The Nordic — Ground floor, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6. Scandinavian-inspired design with clean lines and warm materials. Direct courtyard access.
The Ice Axe — Ground floor, 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, sleeps 6. Adventure and climbing-themed, steps from the Ice Park trailhead. The natural choice for ice climbing and mountaineering trips.
What Every Condo Includes

Gas fireplace in 4 of 5 units (Hot Springs, Crawler, Nordic, Ice Axe). Free WiFi. Flatscreen TVs. Outdoor grill access in the shared courtyard.
