Nordic Design in a Mountain Town
The Nordic takes its design cues from Scandinavian interiors: light woods, clean geometry, warm neutrals, and a sense of calm that encourages you to slow down and actually be present in the space. It's a contrast to the dramatic mountain landscape outside — and that contrast is the point. Ouray asks a lot of you in the best possible way. The Nordic gives you somewhere to decompress.
The unit features a vintage ski canvas art collection that anchors the living area — a curated set of prints that connect Nordic skiing culture to the San Juan mountain context in a way that feels deliberate and coherent.
Two Bedrooms, Two Bathrooms, Full Kitchen
Like the other ground-floor Lumberyard condos, The Nordic sleeps six across two queen bedrooms and has two full bathrooms. The kitchen is fully stocked for cooking. In-unit laundry handles the inevitable aftermath of days in the mountains.
The river runs alongside the building. The Nordic's windows face the courtyard and the river corridor beyond — a natural scene that changes with season and light and never fully repeats itself.
Ice Park and the Nordic Connection
The Nordic is particularly popular among ice climbers — appropriately, given that Nordic countries gave ice climbing much of its technical vocabulary. Two blocks from The Lumberyard puts you at the Ouray Ice Park trailhead in under five minutes. Come back after a day in the canyon to a space that feels designed for recovery: quiet, warm, well-organized.
Group Stays
The Nordic sits between The Crawler and The Ice Axe on the ground floor. All three can be booked simultaneously for groups of up to 18 guests sharing a courtyard and outdoor grill. The Nordic's calmer design makes it a natural fit for the quieter members of a larger group who want their own space without being isolated.
